DIG for Sunday the 25th of June…..we need to use ALL that God has provided for us…..Ephesians 6 v 13

I was reading the second half of Ephesians this morning, getting ready to prepare some messages on this part of Paul’s epistle.

I was struck by the word ‘whole’, used twice towards the end of the letter when he is telling the church about the armour of God (Ephesians 6 v 11 and 13).

Paul is using a picture of the armour as worn by a Roman soldier.

When a Roman soldier went into battle he would wear all is armour and not just parts of it.

All his armour was required to ensure that he would receive the full benefit from his protection.

The same is true with all the resources given to us by God, for example this armour that Paul is speaking about in this part of the Word.

It is quite interesting that Paul uses the word ‘whole’ twice in quick succession.

He does this for a reason.

We are prone to forget some of what God has given to us, some of what God has provided for us.

We are prone not to use all that God has made available through the finished work of Jesus.

This is why the Psalmist reminds us not to forget all the benefits provided by God.

God has provided us with many benefits and He expects us to use them all.

Our task is to find out all that He has given us and to start using them.

Speak this out today…..”Thank you Lord for all the abundant provision you have provided for me through the finished work of Jesus Christ”.
