I have to tell you that I am writing this DIG with a heavy heart; I actually feel sick as I am sitting here.
I have often spoken to people about them complaining about what other ministers say.
It is not good to hear minister come against minister, but sometimes when we see and hear certain things we just cannot keep quiet.
I have just heard an archbishop in a public debate in the Church of England complain about an amendment; apparently we are making it “Word, Word and Word again”.
And the amazing thing is that the Synod voted in agreement with him!
Apparently other sources and different language needs to be used when we are talking about the ‘common good’.
What does he want to use; the traditions of men, the Quran, political correctness, current values or what?
I’m sorry but there are times when we need to speak up and I was encouraged to watch at least one lady speak up for the Word and the values held within.
The Word is the very essence of God, it is His revelation to a needy world, it is the agent of lasting and permanent change, it is the source of truth about Jesus and His finished work, it is the answer to our problems.
The Word is not out-dated; the Word does not need to be altered with regards to marriage, sexuality or abortion.
The Word does not need to be updated to fit in with our current ‘values and society.
I’m used to debating the value and use of the Word of God with those in the world, but not with the current accepted ‘leaders’ of the church.
If the church stops using the Word as the basis for all its activities it may as well pack up and go home!
Speak this out today…..Thank you Lord for your Word and thank you for the never changing and everlasting truths held within”.
1 Peter 1 v 25…..But the word of the Lord endureth of ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you
