I am of the opinion that if something is repeated in the Bible it is an indication of its importance.
Take Psalm 136 for example.
This has 26 verses, with every verse ending with “for his mercy endureth forever”.
This word mercy means loving kindness in the Hebrew, and is one of the best descriptors of the nature of God.
God is kind and God loves us; yes, theology can be that simple.
The simple truth that God is kind and loving is one of the most important truths about God the Father, and this Psalm tells us this twenty six times.
This is a simple yet profound truth that we need to shout out to the world.
It is the goodness of God that leads men to repentance (Romans 2 v 4); it is not shouting at them for being sinners!
You may say of course I know that God is kind and loving, but many of us in the church think that God sends disease and illness to ‘humble’ and ‘improve’ us.
This is a perversion of the truth.
What loving and kind Father sends cancer and leukaemia to ‘help’ His children?
A kind and loving Father would provide healing and wholeness, peace and prosperity, and these are what the Word says God has provided for us.
He is kind and loving.
And He sent Jesus to provide you with life, and life in abundance, through His finished work on the cross.
Speak this out today…..”Thank you Father that you are kind and loving and thank you that your mercy will last forever”.
Psalm 136 v 1…..O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth forever
