DIG for Monday the 28th of August…..the Word is better than any experience…..2 Peter 1 v 19

As I was thinking about the DIG from yesterday my mind wandered to the “certain nobleman” who sought out Jesus to heal his son (John 4 v 46 to 53).

Jesus spoke about people needing to see miracles in order to believe, however this man simply believed the words of Jesus; he did not need to see miracles to believe.

I’m afraid to say I see a lot of people looking for and chasing miracles and “goosebumps” (or experiences) rather than getting into the Word of God.

Now before anyone replies to this in a negative way, I am not against miracles; I have seen many wonderful miracles.

However miracles are a signpost to Jesus but we find out the full truth about Him and his finished work in the Word (John 20 v 30 and 31).

Jesus pointed the disciples of John the Baptist back to the Word when they came with questions from John.

Jesus used the Word of God himself when He was being tempted by the devil.

Jesus said those coming after Thomas would be more blessed by believing (through the Word) rather than seeing with their eyes (John 20 v 29).

The Word is called a more sure word of prophecy and is seen as being better than even wonderful supernatural experiences (2 Peter 1 v 19).

So, back to the nobleman, the words of Jesus were enough for him to believe, this was all he needed.

And this should be enough for us!

Speak this out today…..”Thank you Lord for your Word and thank you that it is the agent of change in my life”.

2 Peter 1 v 19…..We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts
