DIG for Wednesday the 16th of August…..oh no, not “if it is Your will” again…..3 John v 2

There are some words that I fear from Christians more than others; “if it is Your will Lord” and “if it is His will” are among the worst.

This may sound humble and may sound like a good sentiment however it displays an ignorance of the Word of God and of the true character of God.

Take healing for example.

When speaking out healing or praying for healing, the words “if it is Your will Lord” is a statement of doubt and unbelief.

The Word is pretty clear that it is always God’s will for us to be healed.

Above all things He wants us to live in health and prosperity (3 John v 2).

Jesus came so that we could live in life, and life in abundance (John 10 v 10).

In the Gospels we see on a number of occasions where Jesus heals all that came to Him.

Never in the Gospels do we see Jesus refusing to heal, and we never see Him putting sickness or disease on a person.

We also see in Scripture that if we see Jesus we see God; He is the express image of the Father and can only do what He does.

So if we see Jesus always healing, we know it is always God’s will that we are healed.

Asking God if it is His will to heal shows an ignorance of Scripture, and shows an ignorance of the true nature of God.

Speak this out today…..”Thank you Lord that it is always your will that I live in health, and thank you for this provision through the finished work of Jesus”.

3 John v 2…..Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth

DIG for Friday the 31st of March…..Jesus has provided all you need for life and godliness…..2 Peter 1 v 3

In 2 Peter 1 v 3 we see one of the most “life changing” verses in the Bible.

Sometimes we use that phrase “life changing” too much, but it is certainly true for this verse.

The first thing to see is that this verse is in the past tense; it is about something that has happened.

We have been given all things that we need pertaining to life and godliness.

And we are given the key to unlock all these things that include health, joy, peace and prosperity (among other things).

Can you see how important this verse is to you?

Can you see the key?

The key is knowledge of Jesus, He who has called us to glory and virtue.

You can change the direction of your life towards the abundant life that Jesus promised and away from sin and ungodliness.

You can transform your life for the better.

The key is increasing your knowledge of Jesus, and that is done through rightly dividing the Word of truth, the Bible.

Yes, it really is that simple; it may not be easy but it is simple.

Bible study is not boring; Bible study is life changing!

As we increase our knowledge of Him we renew our minds to the truth of the Word and speak out this truth.

This will change our lives for the better.

Go on and give it a try!

Speak this out today…..”Thank you Lord that you have already provided me with all things pertaining to life and godliness”.

2 Peter 1 v 3…..According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue

DIG for Wednesday the 4th of November…..Jesus has not changed, so His will for you is still the same…..John 10 v 10

As I was opening my Bible this afternoon I noticed a couple of green highlights over a couple of verses at the end of the epistle to the Hebrews.

Hebrews 13 v 8 talks about Jesus Christ being the same yesterday, and today, and forever.

The Lord then said, “And that includes His will for your life” and led me to John 10 v 10.

This is of course a verse well known to me, and to you if you have been reading my DIG for a while.

Jesus said He came that people might have life, and have it more abundantly.

This life He spoke of comes form the Greek word “zoe” and means God’s kind of life, life at its best.

He also wants us not just to have this, but also to have it in abundance; the Greek word here is “perisson” and means more abundant, beyond what is anticipated, or exceedingly abundant.

Life for the followers of Jesus was meant to be very good, with healing, abundance, peace and joy flowing in their lives.

That was the will of Jesus when He came.

And Jesus has not changed; His will is the same now as when He walked on the earth.

He still wants His people to live a “zoe” life to the full, with healing, abundance, peace and joy.

That was His will then and it is His will now; that is what He came to give YOU.

It may sound arrogant, but I believe this to be the truth; as a born again believer your birthright is to live a “zoe” life of abundance as that is what Jesus came to provide.

Speak this out today…..”Thank you Lord that through the finished work of Jesus Christ you have provided life and life in abundance for me right now”.

John 10 v 10…..The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly”

DIG for Saturday the 18th of April…..He is the only way to life, anything else is just an existence…..John 20 v 31

Many times I see people with things going wrong in their lives, chaos all around them, and think, “How can they live like that?”

What I have come to realise is that for many people today there is no life; what they have is an existence.

Life in the Biblical context is health and wholeness, joy and peace, abundance and prosperity.

This can only be achieved through faith in Jesus Christ; anything else is not life.

Jesus came that we might have life, and have that life in abundance (John 10 v 10).

He came that we might live in health and prosperity (3 John 2).

This type of life is only available through believing on and in Him (John 20 v 31).

Anything without Jesus is not life.

People may say, well I’m having a great life without Jesus thank you very much!

I don’t believe that, it is a lie.

We often hear of rich and famous people talking about having something missing, about something not right in their life.

Life is only available through faith in Jesus.

Faith in Jesus will bring all that is required for an abundant life, with anything else just being a temporary existence.

Speak this out today….”Thank you Lord that through faith in Jesus I have been given an abundant life as a gift of grace”.

John 20 v 31…..But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God,; and that believing ye might have life through his name

DIG for Friday the 18th of April…..belief in God is just not enough…..John 14 v 1

We looked at this verse yesterday in DIG in the context of how we can and should control our emotions.

I was thinking today about another very important point that this verse highlights.

It highlights the need for belief in Jesus.

Many people say “I go to church”, “I’m a good person”, and even “I believe in God”.

None of those is enough to be born again, to receive salvation and then move into an abundant life and relationship with God the Father.

This is only available through believe, faith and trust in Jesus and His finished work.

In John 14 v 1 Jesus says that as they believed in God, so they should believe in Him (John 14 v 1).

This is clearly saying that there has to be a belief in Jesus as well as a belief in God.

We do not come to the Father through believing that there is a God; we only come to the Father through Jesus Christ (John 14 v 6).

Jesus, and trust and faith in His finished work, is what man needs for salvation, nothing else (Romans 10 v 9 and 10).

He is the only way to salvation, your works, your good deeds, your church attendance, your church membership; even your belief in God is not enough.

This is the message that we need to be screaming out this Easter!

Jesus is what men need; Jesus is the way, He is the truth and He is life (John 14 v 6 again).

When speaking to His disciples Jesus was reminding them that faith and trust in Him was essential, and it is the same story for us today.

Trust and faith in Him and His finished work saw our initial salvation and trust and faith in Him will see our continual salvation that is our healing, wholeness, joy, peace and prosperity.

Trust and faith in Jesus and His finished work is what will see our lost family and friends receive their salvation; that is the Good News of Easter.

Speak this out today…..”Thank you Lord for the finished work of Jesus Christ and thank you for my salvation”.

John14 v 1…..Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me

DIG for Thursday the 21st of November…..questions, questions, questions and the only answer……John 1 v 38 and Matthew 20 v 21

One of the things I notice as I read Scripture is the amount of questions that Jesus asked the people.

Many, many times we see Jesus answering a question with a question, or asking an individual a question that gets right to the heart of their issue.

There are questions he is still asking us all today.

What do you desire and what do you wish? (Matthew 20 v 21).

What are you looking for? (John 1 v 38).

People have different answers to these questions; money, career, partner, children, fame and fortune, happiness etc.

I would suggest that the answer everyone needs for these questions is Jesus Christ Himself!

Jesus is the way, the truth and the life (John 14 v 6); Jesus is the only answer to every question in life.

When we trust in Jesus we are provided with all we need for a Godly and abundant life (2 Peter 1 v 3, John 10 v 10 and Colossians 2 v 10).

Jesus simply is THE answer!

He asks the questions and He is the answer, I just love the simplicity of this!

Have you answered His questions today, and have you accepted Him as the only answer?

Speak this out today…..”Thank you Lord that Jesus is the only answer to every question of life”.

John 1 v 38…..Then Jesus turned, and saw them following, and saith unto them, What seek ye?……..

Matthew 20 v 21…..And he said unto her, What wilt thou?………

DIG for Wednesday the 27th of February…..I am the way, the truth, and the life…..John 14 v 6

This verse is a statement of the uniqueness of Jesus; there is no one or nothing like Jesus.

Jesus is the only means by which men can come into relationship with Father God.

This verse is a blast against every single religion on the face of the earth; including the religion of the legalistic church.

He is the way to God.

He has the truth about God.

He brings us the life of God.

He is God.

There is nothing that you can do in yourself or through religion to bring you into relationship with Father God.

“I am the way, the truth and the life”, what an awesome statement of mission, intent and uniqueness.

Jesus knew exactly who He was and what His job was.

It was to bring us reconciliation and life through God’s truth by faith in Him, he is the only way.

Speak this out today…..”Thank you Lord for Jesus; thank you that He is the way, the truth and the life”.

John 14 v 6…..Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me
