DIG for Thursday the 21st of July…..it is written, one of our strongest weapons in life…..Matthew 4 v 4

If you read my DIGs on a regular basis you will know I ‘bang on’ about the importance of the Word; I have been ‘accused’ of being a one-message preacher!

But I do this because of the importance of the Word of because it is so powerful.

When Jesus was being tempted by the enemy He could have called down an army of angels, fought and won a battle; He could have scattered the enemy and his demons.

Instead He used something far more powerful, He used the Word of God.

Three times Jesus refuted what the enemy said by saying, “It is written”.

Jesus used the Word of God against the enemy and He won.

We can do the same thing!

When the enemy tells you about your poverty you can reply, “It is written that Jesus came to bring me life in abundance and that Jesus was made poor so that I could be made rich” (John 10 v 10 and 2 Corinthians 8 v 9).

When the enemy tries to force his sickness upon you, you can say, “It is written that by the stripes of Jesus I have been healed” (1 Peter 2 v 24).

When the enemy suggests that no-one cares for you or are interested in you the reply should be, “It is written that Father God has accepted me in the beloved and adopted my into His family” (Ephesians 1 v 5 and 6).

It is written, followed by a truth from Scripture is one of the most devastating weapons that you can ever yield.

The Word is so powerful that the enemy is petrified of it; he does not want you reading and understanding Scripture.

Have you ever wondered why there are so many distractions and disturbances when you get down to reading the Word?

Be like Jesus and get the weapon of the Word into your heart so that you can speak it out the next time the enemy comes knocking!

Speak this out today…..”Thank you for your Word and thank you that it is a weapon I can use again and again”.

Matthew 4 v 4…..But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God

DIG for Tuesday the 15th of September…..counter doubt with His Word…..Matthew 4 v 3 and 4

Many of us have doubts and fears (or temptations) coming at us and against us, much like the way Jesus did when He has in the wilderness (Matthew 4).

The enemy can come at us and try to bring doubts into our minds.

The enemy cannot make us do anything but he can use his lies to cause us to doubt the truth of what God has done for us through Jesus.

He can tell us that healing and prosperity are not for us, not for today, he can even get us to doubt our salvation sometimes.

At times like these we need to use the same model that Jesus used.

We need to say, “It is written” and then quote God’s Word on the subject.

We counter doubt and fear with truth from God’s Word, with what is written in the Bible.

Doubt and fear is like darkness from the enemy, we counter darkness and make it flee by bringing forth light from His Word.

Using this “model” we resist the devil and submit to God (James 4 v 7).

The devil does not have an answer for the Word of God, other than more lies and doubts.

If we are assured of what the Word says then the enemy cannot trick us into a different way of thinking.

If we know we have been healed through Jesus’ finished work on the cross we can counter his nonsense about illness and disease (1 Peter 2 v 24).

If we know Jesus became poor so that we might be rich we can counter his nonsense about being poor to be humble (2 Corinthians 8 v 9).

Truth will make doubt free; knowing the truth will set us free (John 8 v 32).

Speak this out today…..”Thank you for the truths within your Word and thank you that knowing the truth has set me free”.

Matthew 4 v 3 and 4…..And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God

DIG for Friday the 16th of May…..Jesus used God’s Word; don’t you think you should…..Matthew 4 v 4

I believe in and teach on the importance of the Bible in the life of the believer, and tell the fellowship this time and time again.

Study of and understanding of the Word of God is vital, especially when we are in times of trouble or doubt when we can go directly to the truths that God says about a certain issue or situation and find real comfort.

Jesus had times of distress in His ministry and life, especially when the enemy in the wilderness was tempting him.

Three times He was tempted and three times He used the same method to remove that temptation; He used the Word of God.

Three times He heard a lie from the devil and each time He replied with these words; “It is written”.

Jesus grew up as a good Jewish boy and He would have studied the Scriptures and would have known the truth from the Word of God.

So when He was tempted with lies He could recognise that and instead of believing the lies He would believe the truth and speak it out.

We can do the same as Jesus; we have the Word of God available to us every single day, but in my experience it is an amazingly powerful tool that believers do not use.

When the enemy says you are ill, you can say, “It is written that by his stripes I have been healed”.

When the enemy says you are poor, you can say, “It is written that He became poor so that I can be made rich”.

When the enemy says no one likes you, you can say, “It is written that I am accepted in the beloved”.

Every part of the Bible was literally breathed from the mouth of God (2 Timothy 3 v 16).

Every part of the Bible is truth, and if you have a working knowledge of this truth it will make you free from any temptation and bondage that may come upon you (John 8 v 32).

If Jesus used the Word of God don’t you think you should?

Speak this out today…..”Thank you Lord for your Word, thank you for the freedom that we have to read and study the Bible”.

Matthew 4 v 4…..But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God
