DIG for Saturday the 12th of August…..what He promised to Joshua He promises to you…..Joshua 1 v 9

Nunsy said tonight that the next time she is preaching she will be coming from Joshua, and that made me head straight to that book for the DIG tonight.

What the Lord says to Joshua as he embarked on his ministry, into leadership, He is saying to us today.

And I find that truth extremely encouraging.

He promises to be with us on the mission He has tasked us with (Joshua 1 v 5).

He promises that He will not fail us (Joshua 1 v 5).

He promises us that if we follow His guidance we will prosper in whatever we do (Joshua 1 v 7).

He promises that if we focus on His Word and speak out His Word we will have good success (Joshua 1 v 8).

He promises that with His presence we can live without fear (Joshua 1 v 9).

Now there’s a great model for anything that we do in life, be it ministry, school, work, indeed any part of life.

Follow the Lord’s guidance through His Word and through your personal relationship with Jesus and you cannot go wrong.

You cannot fail to succeed and prosper if you go with His guidance rather than with your on understanding.

This is a truth confirmed in Proverbs (Proverbs 3 v 5 and 6).

Speak this out today…..”Thank you Lord for the promises that you gave to Joshua, and thank you that you have also given them to me”.

Joshua 1 v 9…..Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of good courage; be not afraid, neither be dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest

DIG for Tuesday the 20th of October…..His way is always the best way for you…..Proverbs 3 v 5 and 6

Nunsy and I are at a Minister’s Conference this week, but it is a conference that we nearly did not come to.

Due to various reasons (or maybe I should call them excuses) we had planned not to come, but closer to the event I felt the Lord prompting me to go.

I didn’t listen to Him at first, but eventually did and as Nunsy was being promoted as well we decided to come.

And I am so glad we came; I have just listened to the best teaching I have ever heard.

Or maybe I should say superb teaching that spoke right into my heart about my current situation.

The Lord knew what the pastor was going to preach and He also knew that I needed to hear it, so He prompted me to come.

He knew what I needed far more than I did.

If I had listened to my own thoughts, if I had leaned on my own understanding I would have missed a teaching that I believe is about to transform my ministry and my church.

We must get to a mind-set where we listen to the Lord more than ourselves.

We must get to a stage where we trust Him and what He says more than what we want.

I’m sure you’ve done things in your life that were wrong and say to yourself, “I knew the Lord was telling me not to do that”.

We need to get to the place in our life where we listen to Him and obey Him before we do the stupid things!

I am so grateful that we came to this conference, but am also very aware that I almost missed it due to my own thoughts and wants.

Please listen to my heart when I tell you to take everything to the Lord and listen to Him, I would not want you to miss out on what the Lord has for you.

Listen to Him, trust Him and obey Him; He knows what is best for you as well as knowing what is best for me.

Speak this out today…..”Thank you Lord that you always want what is best for me, and thank you that your plan and purpose for my life is so much better than anything I could come up with”.

Proverbs 3 v 5 and 6…..Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths

DIG for Sunday the 1st of June…..there are times when we need to move aside and let the Lord move…..Proverbs 3 v 5 and 6

I went to church this morning (as usual) with a plan of the service; who would be in the ministry team for our healing service, how the worship would go and armed with a few verses and the structure of my sermon.

But the Lord had other plans and we went in a different direction, and people were healed and set free!

Of course we need to plan and decide what to do but sometimes the Lord speaks to us and wants us to go in a different direction.

We must be open to the prompting of the Holy Spirit and change our plans to fit in with His.

We must be open to God using someone else to minister, even if it is not planned.

As a pastor that can be difficult, but the Lord used Nunsy (my wife) in an awesome way this morning to preach as she led worship, and it was awesome!

I did not need to preach, I needed to do something else; God had His preacher this morning and it was not I!

A number of times in the past I have thought about changing the service but stuck to my plans and I have to be honest and say I think I “missed it” those days.

I did not miss it this morning; I acknowledged the Lord and He guided my path (Proverbs 3 v 6), and I trusted in the Lord and did not go my own way with my plans (Proverbs 3 v 5).

My friend, the Lord is trying to guide every single one of us and direct us every single day of our life, if we will only listen and hear Him.

I have found that if I listen and go His way instead of mine things work out a whole lot better!

I’m sure that you find the same.

Speak this out today…..”Thank you Lord that you are interested in my life, and that you have a plan and purpose for me that you want to guide me into”.

Proverbs 3 v 5 and 6…..Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths

DIG for Friday the 27th of December…..He knows what you need better than you do…..Proverbs 3 v 5 and 6

In the recent DIGs we have seen many people hear from the Lord in some way or another, believe what He said and then obeyed accordingly.

Some of the things the people did were quite unusual, some of them were actually pretty crazy if you look at it in worldly terms.

Joseph kept Mary as his wife even though she was pregnant and he was not the father.

Mary believed that she would be the mother of the Messiah and she spoke it out.

The wise men went home straight away instead of going back to tell Herod.

God’s ways and plans do not always tie in with what men think; Joseph must have really thought that!

But Joseph believed God and followed His path instead of his own path.

He trusted in the Lord and did not follow his own understanding (Proverbs 3 v 5).

He acknowledged the Lord and then went on the path that He had ordained (Psalms 3 v 6).

This is excellent advice for us today.

The Lord created us for Himself (Colossians 1 v 16) and He has a plan and a purpose for every one of us (Jeremiah 1 v 5).

This may not always be what we have planned for our lives, but we need to believe that God knows what is best for us!

I pray that we all can find our own specific plan and purpose that the Lord has for us; and I pray that we then obey and move into it.

Speak this out today…..”Thank you Lord that you have a plan and a purpose for my life; help me understand and believe this plan and purpose”.

Proverbs 3 v 5 and 6…..Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all they ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths
