DIG for Friday the 22nd of April…..you can get rid of that problem in our life…..Philippians 4 v 13

Last night in our Bible study I had a vivid picture of a huge rock.

A person was on top of this and I saw them drop a very small piece of dynamite into a hole in the rock.

As the person went away the dynamite exploded and the rock disappeared.

I think the Lord was showing me that the rock was a big problem and the dynamite was the power inside us, saying we can remove and overcome any problem in our path.

As born again believers we have the powerful Spirit of God inside us, at our disposal.

We can do all things through this power (Philippians 4 v 13).

We can be more than conquerors in all areas of life through Jesus (Romans 8 v 37).

We can be overcomers in all things in this life on earth.

The Lord was showing me that if we use the power that He has given us we could do anything!

We have the power, but we are required to use it.

It is like having electricity but not putting on the light switch, until it is turned on it is useless.

There is no problem in this life that cannot be sorted with “a little piece of God”.

God’s power is bigger than any problem we have and God is not surprised by our problems; He was equipped us in such a way that we can defeat anything that comes across our path.

Speak this out today…..”Thank you Lord for the awesome power that you have put on the inside of me”.

Philippians 4 v 13…..I can do all things through Christ which strengthen me

DIG for Saturday the 5th of September…..the shield of faith…..Ephesians 6 v 16

When you have faith in something you put your trust in that thing, you have confidence in that it will do what it is supposed to do.

Our faith (our hope and trust) should be placed in Jesus and His finished work and nothing else.

Faith in our own self worth, our own effort and works, our own religious performance is useless.

If we are trusting in anything other than Jesus we are deluded.

The Roman soldier had great faith in his shield, faith that it would stop anything that the enemy could through at him.

As a child I was very impressed when I saw for the first time the way that Roman soldiers would make a covering with their shields (like a tortoise shell) and then march into, through and over an enemy.

Our faith in Jesus is our shield and our protection, and it can protect us from everything, from ALL the fiery darts of the wicked (Ephesians 6 v 16).

There is nothing that the finished work of Jesus cannot, and has not, overcome.

And through faith in Jesus and His finished work we are more than conquerors over ALL situations (Romans 8 v 37).

There is no sin that Jesus has not dealt with, no illness that Jesus did not take on His own body on the cross and no poverty that Jesus did not vanquish.

Faith in Jesus and His finished work will get you through any and ALL difficulties, problems and situations.

Put your faith, hope and trust in Jesus this morning.

Speak this out…..”Thank you Lord for the finished work of Jesus Christ, and thank you that through Him I am an overcomer”.

Ephesians 6 v 16…..Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked

DIG for Sunday the 2nd of August…..conquerors, overcomers and victorious; your identity in Christ…..Romans 8 v 37

In the message at MGF today I continued teaching on our true identity; that is who we are in Christ and through Christ.

The Word is full of encouraging truths about how we should live our lives here on earth through Him.

We are more than conquerors through Him (Romans 8 v 37).

We are victorious through Him (1 Corinthians 15 v 57).

We are overcomers through Him (1 John 4 v 4 and 1 John 5 v 4 and 5).

Through Him we can, and should, be winners in this life.

But we will only be winners if we are persuaded that we are conquerors, overcomers and victors and start behaving appropriately.

“As a man thinketh so is he” and “death and life are in the power of the tongue” are important spiritual laws we live under.

If we think like conquerors and speak like conquerors we will more than likely behave like conquerors.

But, if we think like losers and speak like losers we will definitely behave like losers.

Jesus came to destroy the works of the enemy, so that we could live lives of abundance, health and prosperity (John 10 v 10 and 3 John 2).

Even in difficult and hard times (we will suffer persecution) we need to think and speak like conquerors and winners.

We need to know that because of our position in Christ we are already coming from a state of victory.

We are already victorious because of what He has done.

Speak this out today…..”Thank you Lord that as a gift of grace through faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ I am more than a conqueror and am an overcomer in this life”.

Romans 8 v 37…..Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us

DIG for Thursday the 9th of July…..the odds are stacked in our favour in this battle…..Romans 8 v 37

I had a great day out today with my granddaughter up at Culloden battlefield.

We saw how the odds were stacked against the Jacobean forces; they were more tired, had to run across boggy ground and were forced to bunch up because of high walls for example.

I thought about the battle that we can be in sometimes, the spiritual battle and I realised that we have the odds stacked in our favour.

Our enemy has the odds stacked against him and his demons as we have the Lord Jesus Christ on our side.

Because of this we are unbeatable.

Because of this we can be more than conquerors in any situation (Romans 8 v 37).

Because of this we can do all things (Philippians 4 v 13).

But you may be saying, “Vic how can you say this when we see Christians sick and dying?”

Well, I like to look at the bigger picture in all things and I know that at times it seems like we do get defeated.

But this is not the case.

Let’s take illness and death for example; the way I look at it we are in a win-win situation, as if we live we have overcome yet if we die we are with the Lord.

I have read the “end of the book” and have seen the “final score” (to steal a term from my beloved football).

Jesus wins and we win through Him, the odds really are stacked in our favour.

Speak this out today…..”Thank you Lord that through you I am more than a conqueror and can do all things”.

Romans 8 v 37…..Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us

DIG for Sunday the 21st of June…..a chapter just crammed full of amazing truths…..Romans 8 v 17

At church this morning Nunsy mentioned that a lot of the songs had lyrics based on Romans 8; so I had a wee look at the chapter.

Wow! What a chapter this is!

All of Romans (well, all of the Word) is fantastic but Romans 8 is just packed full of life changing truths.

I joked that I could preach on Romans 8 until Christmas!

We are told there should be no more condemnation for us as believers (Romans 8 v 1).

We are told that we can have life and peace through being spiritually minded (Romans 8 v 6).

We are told we are sons of God and can call God Abba Father (Romans 8 v 14 and 15).

We are told that we are joint heirs with Christ (Romans 8 v 17).

We are told that all things work together for our good (Roman 8 v 28).

We are told that nothing, absolutely nothing, can separate us from the love of God (Romans 8 v 35 to 39).

We are told that we are more than conquerors through Jesus (Roman 8 v 37).

Go on, read Romans 8 right now and start to meditate upon and digest your true identity in Christ; this chapter will tell you many truths about who you are as a gift of grace through faith in Christ.

This truly is a marvellous piece of Scripture.

Maybe I do feel a wee teaching series on Romans 8 coming on!

Speak this out today…..”Thank you Lord that I am more than a conqueror, am a joint heir with Christ, can have life and peace and can live free from condemnation”.

Romans 8 v 17…..And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together
