E – Righteousness by Faith

What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, which followed not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith.
But Israel, which followed, after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness.

Romans 9 v 30 (which you have just read) is an amazing verse. It is saying that the Gentiles, (non Jews like you and me, if you are not Jewish) didn’t try to achieve righteousness. Even without trying they became righteous through faith. This is a fantastic verse; it is a verse that should put to an end for ever people trying to achieve righteousness through their own self efforts. So what did they put their faith in that made them righteous?

As it is written, Behold, I lay in sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved.
For I bear them record that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge.
For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.
For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone that believeth.

Faith in Jesus MAKES you righteous. Yes my friends it is that simple. Faith in Jesus MAKES you righteous.

The Word here is very clear (Romans 9 v 33 to 10 v 4); faith Jesus and His work on the cross is all that is required for you to be made righteous. I will reinforce this in lessons to come, however for now that is all that you need to know………..You are made righteous through your faith in Jesus Christ
