I went into town today in order to send a money transfer to the pastor we support over in India.
This takes quite a long time as I have to put each note individually into the checkout machine, but it is normally a good time, as I know the benefit that will come from the use of this money.
Today however I felt quite sad, as while I was “feeding” the machine with money person after person came along to the other checkouts to buy lottery tickets and scratch cards.
I don’t know how much money was spent on this while I stood there but it was a significant amount.
All those people were putting their hope in the lottery or a scratch card, putting their hope on a chance of winning the jackpot, putting their hope for happiness and joy into the thought of more money.
I am eternally grateful that I have put my hope in something, or rather someone else!
Jesus is our hope; He is our provider and when we came to faith in Jesus we “hit the jackpot” (Hebrews 6 v 19).
We have already been provided with all spiritual blessings, we do not need to wait (Ephesians 1 v 3).
And unlike the lottery it is not chance if we receive or not, we all have received.
We already have all we need for life and godliness through the knowledge of Jesus and His finished work (2 Peter 1 V 3).
Speak this out today…..”Thank you Lord for the finished work of Jesus and thank you for all that I have already received as a gift of grace through faith”.
Hebrews 6 v 19…..Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which entereth into that within the veil
