I’ve written before that it was an understanding of this verse that truly changed my life.
Righteousness is about being right in the eyes of God, about being accepted by God; this is something I would suggest that every believer really wants.
Knowing that you are righteous really helps a believer to live in freedom, not to sin, but freedom from sin; that is my testimony!
The wonderful truth is that we do not have anything to do with our own righteousness, we cannot do good works to increase it and we cannot do sinful works to reduce it.
You are either righteous or you are not.
If you are born again you are a new creature (2 Corinthians 5 v 17) and have been made righteous as a gift of grace trough faith in Jesus (2 Corinthians 5 v 21).
Jesus was made sin even though He had never sinned so that man could be made righteous; this was the amazing exchange that was made possible through His finished work on the cross.
Your righteousness in the eyes of God has got nothing to do with your performance.
Thankfully your righteousness (and mine) has everything to do with the performance of Jesus.
All we need to do is have faith and we are MADE righteous.
I for one am glad that my righteousness was dependant upon Jesus’ work and not upon mine; how about you?
Speak this out today…..”Thank you Lord that as a gift of grace through faith I have been MADE righteous”.
2 Corinthians 5 v 21…..For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him
