One again my DIG is inspired by a worship song (yes, I listen to a lot of music).
In this song there is a line talking about grace being scandalous.
This of course is no surprise as Jesus was scandalous and He is the representation of grace in the flesh (John 1 v 17).
Jesus frustrated and annoyed the religious establishment of the day by communing and eating with sinners for example.
He said He came for sinners; He came to deal with the issue of sin.
Yet the religious people of the day did not like what He was doing.
The same is true for grace today.
My experience is that the religious people of today cannot stomach grace.
I feel most opposition when I preach about complete and unconditional forgiveness; this is grace.
People come against me when I teach we have been made righteous as a gift of grace through faith.
To the religious person, striving to keep the law to be accepted by god, grace is unfair and indeed scandalous.
To say that men can be made right with God simply by faith is indeed a scandal!
Yet it is the truth.
Jesus is grace, and both were (and are) despised by the religious men of their day.
But that does not stop grace being the truth (John 1 v 17).
Speak this out today…..”Thank you Lord that I do not live under law but live under grace”.
John 1 v 17…..For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ
