DIG for Saturday the 2nd of January…..we are all a slave to something…..Philippians 1 v 1

In the message today I preached on the fact that we are all slaves; yes, everyone alive today is a slave.

There are two types of slaves in the world, and we are given descriptions in the epistle to the Romans.

You can be a slave to sin or you can be a slave to righteousness (Romans 6 v 16 to 18).

There are no options here you are either a slave (or servant) to one or the other.

It is like saying you are saved or not saved, you are a saint or a sinner; this is a black and white issue and you are one or the other.

If you are saved you have moved from being a slave to sin and are now a slave to righteousness.

Being a slave to righteousness is the same as saying you are a slave to Jesus Christ.

Paul declared that he was a slave to Jesus Christ in Philippians 1 v 1.

Slave (often translated as servant) comes from the Greek word “doo-los” and means someone who belongs to another.

I am so glad that I now belong to Jesus instead of belonging to the devil.

You see that is the choice, if we are saved we belong to Jesus, otherwise we belong to the enemy.

Whichever way we choose we are all slaves, but we get to choose!

I trust that as you are reading this you have chosen to belong to Jesus.

Speak this out today…..”Thank you Lord that I can say I am a slave; a slave to Jesus Christ”.
